Sanal Edamaruku is the president and founder of Rationalist International, and president of The Indian Rationalist Association. He deserves the Critical Thinkers on the Front Lines award for his performance on Hindi TV in March of 2008.
Sanal challenged Pandit Surinder Sharma, a Tantric Guru, during a discussion on "Tantric Power versus Science" on Hindi TV. Sharma claimed that he could kill anyone within 3 minutes using black magic. Senal challenged him to do so right there on the air. For three minutes Sharma chanted "magic" words and performed "magic" gestures. After three minutes he was unsuccessful in killing Sanal.
The host of the show allowed Sharma to continue if he wished. So the black magic went on for two hours while Sanal calmly laughed at him. Sharma claimed that he had a sure way to kill him but it would only work at night. So again Sanal agreed to it. That night the show recieved 300 million viewers, twice as many as the superbowl! Everyone tuned in to watch Sharma fail yet again to kill Sanal with black magic.

Sanal Edamaruku for shake of some money and some public rating is causing spiritual holocaust.
Not only he is lethally harming himself but he may be causing spiritual deaths of many unsuspecting victims. His crime is thousand fold more than committing any physical crime.
In the name of eradicating superstition he is committing notorious crime. Sanal Edamaruku you can tell lie to people but you cannot tell lie to yourself. Look at the pain you are suffering from inside and try to find out the reason. Please stop what you are doing for the shake of your own good.
You criticize saints like Ram Dev, Sai Baba, Ravi Shankar etc who have dedicated their life to serving people. If you are able to read this please rethink of the monstrous sin you are committing for which even the god might not be able to save you.
This is only my compassion towards you and the unsuspecting people you have harmed. Dont try to think i am trying to out smart you cause i know u are more intellectual than me. Please try to use your intelligence for good reasons, do not use it to harm people.
About the TV show do u thing that person was real tantrik. Please look the video again it was just a hoax to promote rating of some TV channel.

In lieu of critising hindu saintly people who have dedicated their lives for welfare of humanity why donot you set an example by contributing half of your earnings for community service.Further why donot you say anything about christian saint?
